I'm having a hard time finding free fields in the Arlington/Alexandria area to just go out with some buddies and hit some balls. The fields I've found are either locked or are in constant use. I guess this is just the price to pay when living close in. When I lived in Manassas, the middle school fields were always free on the weekends.

Any suggestions on fields?

I think there is one I usually see across monument drive from Fairfax Corner, near the government center in Fairfax. Occasionally I see people use it.

That would be a bit far for someone in Arlington or Alexandria.

Come down to Mount Vernon and you should be able to find a place to play. We've got plenty. Suggestions would be Fort Hunt Park, the park off of West St along the parkway (don't recall the name at the moment), Whitman or Carl Sandburg Middle School, Mount Vernon High School, or just about any elementary school. Just drive around a little down here and you're sure to find one.

Mason District Park (6621 Columbia Pike) has a field in the back that is rarely used.

If you build it, they will come.
