I think one of the great things about living in Northern Virginia is the fact you can get involved in worthwhile causes and bring them right to the White House.

Ted, thanks for posting this. I agree that much more needs to be done re. Darfur.

That said, I'm always skeptical of the value of these rallies and protests. I think if every person who plans to attend would instead send what they would have spent on parking/Metro/food/signs to Doctors Without Borders (or OXFAM, or Save the Children, or any other well-vetted charity), that would do a lot more good.

While donating to organizations that help in relief work is good, I think rallies/protests helps to raise awareness.

Food,clothing medical supplies do help address the symptoms of the problem, it will not make the problem go away.
I think in many cases these vital supplies cannot get to where they are needed.
