This is my first year gardening in NoVa. I've already posted about the toll this dagnam (lol) clay soil is having on my inground maters, but my container ones are doing wonderfully.

In fact, they already have flowers and some have become the start of little fruits! I'm psyched but am wondering if this is typical for the region. When I bought the plants, I did pinch off any flowers that may have been there, and I did bury most of the plant when I transplanted into the containers.

Is it the excessive heat we've been having? Or just typical? Anyone else have flowers/fruit right now?

I'd say this is typical and you should expect to have tomatoes ready in mid July.

I've got one in-ground tomato plant with a fruit about the size of a ping-pong ball right now. The hard part is waiting for it to grow to full size and then ripen. You'll be ready a good 3 weeks before the tomato is.

I have tomatoes already - they aren't ripe yet but are getting there. If I had planted Green tomatoes, I would be set.
