I lived in an apartment complex called Dale Forest Apartments about 10 years ago. It was quite, clean and safe. Don't know if that's changed, but it's worth checking into. You can google their website, it looks like 2 bedrooms are from $815 to $1025. Dale City is a good place to be located since it's pretty much in the center of PWC, so where ever your job may be, commuting shouldn't be an issue.

I ride by Dale Forest apartment just about daily. From what I can see from the roadside, the outside grounds have been kept up just as well as they had when I moved in the area 16 years ago. From what I've always heard about the place, it's been more of a lower-end type of rental place but, alternatively, I don't hear of any terrible things going on there.

Dale Forest isn't too bad of an area, i've known people that lived there and they weren't terribly unhappy.

I'm seeing that $1100 may not be achievable. I can go up $1300. I hope to rent for a year, in the meantime sell my current house and buy something else.

$1300 for a 2 bedroom in a good area is still going to be tight but it does open up a few more possibilites than $1100

Can you go a little south? Cheaper and with mostly military people, you're not gonna get driven mad by loud music, trash, and roaches because your neighbors are filthy.

For going further south, what cities were you thinking about?

You know - what is wrong with living in a low income area if you're living off of low income for the area? ....just starting from the ground up. I started out right near Coverstone in Manassas But - I didn't stretch my budget to get a place in a 'better' area....I stayed there for two years, saved up money and got a really nice place later on.
