Can anyone recommend a good pediatric orthopedic specialist in the Ashburn/Leesburg area? My daughter, who just turned one, fell and broke her wrist this morning. The urgent care clicic gave me an orthopedic referral but didn't know for sure if they did pediatric cases. I would really appreciate it if someone can recommend a doctor they've had personal experience with. I don't know who this experience is more traumatic for--me or my daughter.

Really sorry to hear about your daughter's accident. You might want to try Commonwealth Orthopedics, which has several offices in Fairfax County (not sure about Loudoun). I used Commonwealth to have arthroscopic surgery done on my knee two days ago, in fact, and as far as I can tell the procedure and my recovery from it has gone quite well so far.

The list of Commonwealth physicians who list a special interest in children and adolescent care can be found at Commonwealth Orthopaedics. I've used Dr. Mark Madden for my care, and my wife has used Dr. Thomas Mazahery, both in the Reston office, and we've both been very pleased with their professionalism, knowledge, and patient interaction. If they're indicative, though, I think you'd do fine with any of the Commonwealth physicians. You can reach the Reston office, if that's closest to you, as of 8:30 a.m. weekdays; number is (703) 810-5202. It may take you a while to get through, especially on a Monday morning, but I hope they would be able to fit you in tomorrow, given the nature of your daughter's accident.

Best of luck for a speedy recovery for her.
