Can anyone give me some details about what it's like living in Shirlington? My job would be in either Pentagon City or Crystal City. No car and on a budget. Thank you!

You could easily work in Pentagon or Crystal City and live in Shirlington. There are busses that run through Shirlington that take you near both places. When I lived in Shirlington and was getting home late, I would get off at Pentagon City and cab it home for fairly cheap.

Looking at Shirlington House. Last I checked they were in the $1700-1800 range for 2 beds

don't rule out condo rentals - there are some cute condo complexes nearby (I lived in one called Heatherlea). And you can always look at Fairlington or ParkFairfax, both of which are walkable to the Shirlington shops and restaurants.

Shirlington is great. Hopefully they will have a Capital Bikeshare station in Shirlington soon so that will open up another transportation option. The furthest south station is at Crystal City. Access to Crystal City via the Four Mile Run bike path is great and if you are heading to Pentagon City it is a tad longer and you would be on the road for a bit (but roads are okay for me ). Bus information is available here: Getting To and From Shirlington
