Good luck in the city that wishes it could be Charlottesville.

Vienna, VA is one of the most important cities in the US and the world? Huh...who knew?

Best of luck with your move.

Why yes it is. I'm surprised you did not know that, being a teacher and all.

The elementary school is right in the community too, as I recall.
However, I have to say that the traffic was horrendous. It has gotten much worse since we lived there back in the day. Having lived in a midwestern traffic-free zone for the last several years, we were stunned to be sitting in miles of northern Virginia-style congestion on 15-501. On a Saturday afternoon, no less.
Yes, it sounds like they are in Southern Village. There is an elementary school right in the development. Everyone seems to like it. We're checking it out tomorrow. Ugh, I don't want to hear about traffic. Less traffic was on the "pros" side of our list when deciding to make this move. On the other hand, the other option my husband was given (a year ago) was Long Island, and I know the traffic would have been much worse there!

Thanks so much! I doubt I am done giving out NoVa advice, especially if it pertains to Vienna. After all, I'll be a newbie on the Chapel Hill forum - I'll be asking all the questions on that board.

Well, there's no Sissy Spacek or Monticello in CH, but you gotta love the Dean Dome.

The worst part about moving to Chapel Hill is that my parents won't want to go to school there (assuming they can get in) since we live there, and we will no longer be in-state for UVA. And I think the Virginia state schools offer a greater variety than NC. Oh well, it's a long time off. Who knows where we'll live by then?

I have to disagree. As a native of Virginia who has half of his family from North Carolina, I would have killed to have the opportunity to attend one of NC's state schools at in-state rates. My dream schools were Hampton U, NC State, and UNC-Charlotte. Personally, I think NC's has more options if you want to go to a school that has a name around the country.
