If a reporter gets knocked by a hurricane and no one is around to see it, has he been taken off the air?

Seriously, what's with these TV reporters trying to act all macho like high-schoolers trying to impress girls? We know a hurricane is upon us and the winds are extremely strong. There is technology that tells us what are the wind speeds and remote cameras to show us the surge! Honestly, we get it! Stay in the studio and make your green screen theatrics, but stop making such a spectacle of yourself!!

I saw one of the most stupidest coverage on NBC today where a TV reporter was standing on a dune. He wanted to show how high the dune was so he told us that he was 6ft 4 inches and then went down the dune, and then came back up again. And then he said, "see, it took a while for me to get back. That's because the dune is 10-12 ft high!"

Anyway, here's my all-time favorite footage of a TV reporter (yes, Mr. Al Roker himself) being as stupid as anybody can ever get on live TV:
Al Roker Being Blown! - YouTube. Enjoy!

Some more sorry footage: Gotta Watch: Hurricane-ravaged reporters – This Just In - CNN.com Blogs.

Remain indoors and stay dry!

My sentiments exactly. They keep showing people talking about how dangerous it is, how important it is to leave, but they don't answer the question "If it's so dangerous, why the hell are you there?"

LOL, one of them just said "There's no reason to be outside right now." He is standing by the roaring water in NC.

Maybe one of them will win an award for their coverage. IMO it sure isn't worth it.

lol. I saw the report of the guy and the dune. I watch the reports so I can realize how lucky I am not to be in those areas being hard hit. Although I have been at times. In a way I think some of the reporters are doing others a favor by showing how dangerous it can be if someone is dumb enough to venture out.

this is seriously my favorite part of hurricane coverage. During Georges, there was a guy who tied himself to a tree. Best.Hurricane.Report.EVER!

Jim Cantore is my all time favorite Weather Channel reporter. I have a weather nerd crush on him.

Tucker Barnes from Fox 5, he has a Facebook page (that was funny though seeing him being covered in stinky foam)

Edit: I think the page is something like MyFox5DC then Tucker or foam or something
