Hi, without paying a fee (which is stupid IMO, as it's MONEY) - any thoughts on where to take a ton of rolled coins? (our local account is with BB&T and I'll call them and ask) - the other half is a bit OCD and now has quite a fund in rolled coins which have now filled a box and neither of us can even pick it up! I want them out of here.

I believe BB&T will do it free for account holders. I think TD Bank does the same.

LOL about the couch since ours is bad (maybe all the coins would give it some support??? hmmm). BB&T did send a email at one point saying they no longer had coin counting machines that were free (the closest to me was Kingstowne) - I'll assume they'll take rolled coins but I guess I'll have to piece-meal them. It's amazing how much coins weigh! (especially as many as we have) - I did hear an ad for TD Bank saying free coin counting for customers...

I've never had any issue taking my rolled coins to my bank (Wells Fargo/ Wachovia / First Union). I've never even been required to write my account number on the rolls.

Thanks spencgr - this isn't a large box but it's currently at $825.50. I need to get him a smaller box!! (He wears a size 12, that shoebox would be pretty big as well, we'll go w/one of mine, LOL)

Rolled coins should not be that much of a problem, speaking as a bank branch employee myself.

You could cut them open into a Coinstar machine. If you take a giftcard there is no fee and they do Amazon, grocery stores, etc.

Coinstar machines which can be found at places like Giant are free if you get payment as a gift card. You could then use the gift card to buy your groceries.

Count your change ahead of time and bring it to the bank's counting machine. My bank gives a free tshirt if you guess correctly, and I get it right everytime
