If you're worried about Mount Eagle/Twain/Edison, you don't want to go to Alexandria City Public Schools.

Well, and your wife are both working artists, and your child is years from attending the local elementary school. That gives you plenty of lead time to introduce yourself to the PTA and art teachers at that school and to volunteer your services (and the services of your artist friends) for whatever supplemental arts instruction you would like to see. When our kids were in elementary school, they had some extra arts programs because several parents had arts backgrounds and were willing to share their talents.

Just to clarify, Fort Hunt is a Fairfax County school with an Alexandria address. It's within the Sandburg/West Potomac pyramid.
