Does the traffic between Loudon County and Falls Church, for example on route 7 and 267, go away or reduce significantly after 9am on weekdays?

It never goes away, but generally after rush hour it's not terrible. Rt. 7 is always more challenging because of the lights in Loudoun and the narrow roads in Fairfax. Tyson's is always congested on Rt. 7. If the toll road is accessible, it's the best option despite the cost.

Yep, i agree, best bet is to bite the bullet and pay the toll, there are a ton of lights on rt. 7. If you only use the toll to rt 28, the toll is 50 or 75 cents. It's the part to Leesburg that is over $2.

rt 7 after 9am isn't bad at all. esp if you jump over to the fairfax county pkwy once you leave Sterling. (where rt7 becomes 2 lanes each way instead of three) It usually takes me about 20-25min on rt 7 to get from Leesburg to Great falls (Colvin mIll road).
It's the smae in evenings...if you can get away before 5:30 or after 6:30 it's really not too bad.

It's at least another 20+ minutes from GREAT Falls into Falls Church on route 7 -- and you have to go through the Tyson's area. 'Rush hour" doesn't really stop at 9 am, especially in northern Va.
