Trader Joe's told me today at their store in Reston, VA that they would be opening a new store in Sterling, VA (Loudoun County) area at the old Borders bookstore location in Sterling, VA.The store will open August 2012--no set date for August yet.

Now if only Aldi Foods will come to Fairfax or Loudoun Counties. Aldi Foods which is a German-owned company also owns Trader Joe's stores. Aldi bought out Trader Joe's years ago. Closest stores for Aldi Foods are in Manassas, VA on Liberia Avenue and Portsmouth Road.

Enjoy!

I think I'd like to trade you the Aldi's for the Trader Joe's. Not thrilled with Aldi's at all and I have been there numerous times trying to find the love.

Ditto. I wish we could get a TJ's here in PWC!

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!

That's such a perfect location for a TJs. Good parking, close to a college campus, near several businesses, right off Rt. 7.

On a somewhat related note, I was in the shopping plaza across the street from that location and noticed Office Depot is now moving into the site Books-a-Million was in. (Books-a-Million moved to the other former Borders that was in DTC). Anyone know what will be moving into the former Office Depot? It's a prime location right next to Target, so it won't be empty for long.

I think we need to lobby for it. My friend's wife wrote e-mails, made calls, etc, YEARS ago and I'm certain that she is responsible for the one that is in Centreville.

I am in Woodbridge. For god's sake, we've got Wegman's. I'm sick of going north for Trader Joe's and Whole Foods.

Also not a fan of Aldi's. Would much prefer a Sonic. :-)

Ha! I was going to say the exact same thing. I'll go to Aldi's if I happen to be next door at Toys 'R' Us. It's dumpy. I can't believe I once drove out to Woodbridge to see what all the hoopla was about Aldi's.

On the flip side, I haven't been blown away by the Trader Joe's in Fairfax or Centreville. I moved here from Albuquerque where Trader Joe's had just built a store and it was a larger store and had a greater selection, especially in the prepackaged meals. We LOVED going there to get stuff for lunch or dinner. Here the selections are basically nonexistent. I'll have to check out the one in Sterling once it opens to see if they stepped it up a bit.

Enjoy!
There's been an Aldi on Richmond Highway in Fairfax County for several years.
