That, my friend, requires a certain amount of intelligence and work.

The difference between a dumb wealthy person and a non-dumb wealthy person is that the non-dumb person knows how to preserve his/her wealth. Donald Trump and Kim Kardashian are regarded by many as dumb because of their comments and antics, but the truth is they are smart enough to be in the news, foster a following and remain wealthy. You still haven't provided me with any example of a dumb wealthy person.

Thanks for hijacking the thread. I truly believe that Trump and Kardashian are both idiots, and I really do not believe that intelligence has anything to do with fostering a following.

But if you want some more examples, fine. How about R. Kelly and Antonio Cromartie? Both are very wealthy, and both are known to be functionally illiterate. Will you now argue that you do not need to know how to read in order to be classified as intelligent?

I don't think anyone is advocating stupidity as a virtue or an advantage, but any direct link between intelligence and wealth is tenuous at best. Thomas Stanley's book "The Millionaire Mind" does a pretty good job of delinking things like IQ scores, SAT scores, and GPAs from millionaire status. It might be significant that the average income of a Mensa member is reportedly only slightly higher than average.

"It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.” - Frank Zappa.

No, you are right. I shouldn't be hijacking the thread. My apologies for doing that so this will be my last post.

From your thread and RamblingMan's thread, it appears that you are interpreting my definition of intelligence to being able to solve difficult analytical problems or getting high scores in SATs, IQ tests, etc. No, I am merely equating intelligence to being smart; not dumb!

Trump and Kardashian might be idiots, but they are intelligent (smart) enough to know their target audience and have their wealth growing and flowing. R. Kelly and Cromartie might be illiterate, but both are intelligent (smart) enough to manage their career (talents) successfully.

So I will conclude saying that in my opinion, intelligence or smartness has everything to do with preservation of wealthy. I will leave it at that. Back to the initial discussion about housing.

I agree with you on that. Also, a few low IQ but wealthy people really do not mean much, just like a few smart but poor people don't mean much. They are considered outliers statistically. For the majority of people, there is a positive correlation between wealth creation and intelligence.
