Yeah I'm a Computer Science major. Lol, living with my parents is out of the question, they live in Williamsburg (recently moved there a few years ago/not from there) . I'd consider it temporarily if I got a job near there but part of why I chose Nova other than the job market was because I wanted to start my life not so close to home. I really want to look in the Ballston area but the Reston area preferably near the future silver line may be a cheaper more realistic alternative. What is the young single scene around there like?

Its okay there but definatley nothing close to Arlington. But, Reston is a good option of you want a job in IT. It's smack dab in the middle of the Dulles Tech Corridor.

I'd even consider Tyson's corner or near there since I'd work there. If I could find roommates Ballston/Arlington would be an affordable option as well. Any tips for finding roommates? As of now I don't know anyone from VT looking in that area as well but I'll keep looking. Craigslist is an option but it seems kinda sketch.

There are probably specific bars/restaurants that attract young professionals, but for the most part it's families. If you go to the town center on a Friday night, it's swarming with strollers and tweens.

As for roommates, I found good ones on Craigslist--just use your gut. Other options include contacting your employer to see if there are any other new hires looking for housing, reaching out to the alumni club to see if there are homeless Hokies nearby, or seeing if your church (if applicable) has any contacts in the area.

I think with the number of young people like yourself looking for roommates around here, craiglist is less sketch, but use your head.

Roommates are a great option because it will probably help you meet people and socialize in your first year or so

I had roommates from Craigslist. Try getting female roommates if you're a guy.

EVERY guy roommate I had usually don't clean up well behind themselves and will trash your place. Women are generally cleaner and tidy up behind themselves, and for some reason, more responsible when it comes to money(at least in my experience). Plus, women have other single women friends . So it will be super easy for you to meet chicks.

Aren't women usually opposed to living with a guy? I sure wouldn't mind it but I'm not sure about my parents haha.

You'd be surprised. Many women want to live with a guy cause they want to feel "secure".

Are your parents paying your bills or supporting you financially? If not, who cares? Do what you have to do to get by..
