Yeah, I definitely would not bring small children to this event. It's for the dogs--bringing a kid (other than one up off the ground in a backpack like the pp) is asking for trouble with the number of dogs there. There's no telling when a kiddo will poke the wrong dog in the wrong spot, or the dog will try to eat the crumbs off the kid's clothes and scare them.

One year I went with my mom, who likes to look at dogs, but is afraid of them. We didn't realize that people would be bringing their own dogs, so she was pretty freaked out by the dogs everywhere.

Another year I went with my husband and our Newf. She loves people and dogs, but I think the crowds freaked her out - lots of people bumping into you - and after having to clean up her pee and poo from anxiety accidents, we don't take her anymore.

Most recently I took my toddler, and was very happy that I had him on a baby carrier on my back, rather than in a stroller or walking. He was high and out of the way from intimidating dogs, but I could always kneel down for him to greet friendly ones. A stroller would have been nearly impossible to push without running over people or doggy feet.

Hope this helps!

It does, thank you! It doesn't sound like something I'd bring my dog to, but I'll still go!

Congrats to you and Hilsmom!

Mrs. C and I just celebrated one year with our noble hound--whose picture is my profile pic (now viewable by all CD users).

We should have a CD-NoVA dog party at the pet expo!

thanks. Our lab puppy is still a little too young to be out with lots of doggies (she's only 8 weeks), so she wouldn't be there. But my husband and daughter might go to get the free stuff I have a test to study for in my certificate program.

Yes, they closed one of the exhibit halls and it's now a Walmart. So I guess if you don't find everything you need at the show you can stop there.
