Yes, but if they can only spend $900/month on rent, I highly doubt they can swing the $150/month it takes to park in Rosslyn.

OP will need to re-adjust their spending. $900/month is low for some of the clients that are in 1919 N. Lynn (I work extensively with one of them, nice building...). Perhaps some more details would help.

The OPs whole family is not moving to NoVA. Only the husband is moving to NoVA and the rest of the family are staying put. (they will be supporting two households so I suspect that's why the low budget) From her post, the husband is looking for just a room to rent. I certainly would hope he could find a room within 45 minutes of Arlington for $900.

OP, you could try the website www.roommates.com. I know people who have used this site. Take a look at Google maps and to stay within 45 minutes, I would suggest looking no farther than 15 miles out from your husbands work. Burke, Alexandria, Springfield, Falls Church.

^Yes, with that clarification, I would agree that finding a roommate situation might be easier than a room for rent. That is certainly doable for $900 or less.

Aren't roommates the same as room for rent? Well I guess roommate situation might imply that one is buddies with the people they live. I'm so not into that. I stay in the basement and only emerge when I need to use the microwave. I'm cordial but I have no interest in being friends with the people I live with. I would imagine that a married man with a family elsewhere has those same interests.

However, I thought that him and the wife would be moving to the area together. If its just him then I'm going to amend my suggestions just a tad. I remondmend just sticking to Arlington and Falls Church. Springfield is very nice and I like it but without a wife he might not need the space. Springfield would be an hour to work. Its not centrally located either.

Alexandria is cheaper but it too isn't centrally located. Falls Church and possibly Vienna puts you right in the middle of Northern Virginia.

I see your point although these days more and more unacquainted people are "buddying up" in apartments and houses out of necessity. I was also under the (possibly mistaken) impression that it would be easier/cheaper to find a roommate situation than a room for rent.
