For a 3 level townhouse with a small fenced in back yard, what would be the reception for OTA hd channels from Alexandria 22304?

the antenna web says the towers are 9-15 miles away.

would a small outdoor antenna in the back yard be best or a small indoor one in the 3rd floor?

can anyone in the area tell me the reception they get...

this antenna
Winegard HD7694P High Definition VHF/UHF Antenna

is 3ft by 1 ft for about $50 and can sit in the fenced yard... would that be good even though its on the ground floor?

thanks

Try entering your address on antenna web and see what you get. I get very good over the air reception in McLean.

Silver Sensor (Phillips or Zenith clone like this http://www.amazon.com/Terk-Technolog...5034400&sr=8-1) is considered the reference for indoor antennas up to say 20 ft (good multi-path performance in area with lots of buildings)

This is another good option if you don't live in a concrete jungle: EZ-HD TV Antenna. Something like Terrestrial Digital DB-2 could also work:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882790014

Like other person said, check direction signal is coming from (TV Fool), get a cheap compass from Walmart, and then buy an extended length of RG6 cable from Monoprice.com or eBay.

You can use those websites to start, but it ends up being trial and error after that. If you have rabbit ears, just try that first and see what signals you get, then go from there.

Townhouse? Can you have outdoor non-dish antennas? Check with your HOA if you have one.

Only fairly recently has my SFH HOA allowed outdoor dish antennas - non-dish are still not allowed.

that close to the broadcast it's more likely that you would get a good signal even with an indoor antenna. outdoor is always better, though.
