Hi all, I live in Reston and currently work in Tysons. I'm starting a new work training program that will require me to commute into Arlington one day a week (right next to Courthouse metro). I'm wondering what routes to try?

I know Toll Road->495->GW Parkway is one option... should I attempt Metro from West Falls Church? I need to be at the office by 8:30.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Will you have parking provided at your training program? There are lots of garages in Courthouse, but they they're quite pricey, and finding on-street parking, while not impossible, can be tough as most of the nearby neighborhoods are zoned during the day.

The garage at West Falls Church should be ~$5 a day, and though you'll have to contend with the Orange Crush in the morning, will likely be a better bet than going through either 66 or 495/GW and then paying for parking on top of that.

Parking in Courthouse is not an issue. The office building has a garage and I'm not paying for it. Will I be able to get a parking spot at WFC Metro easily at that time (again, need to be at Courthouse by 8:30)?

I've never had to use Metro to commute, so just trying to figure out if driving or Metro will be faster.

If I can get a rider, is HOV-2 better?

Default Bike to Work

I go into Court House in Arlington 2 to 3 days a week by Bicycle from Reston. The W&OD trail most of the way; then I cut over to the Custus trail into Ballston. Going home, I cycle to the West Falls Church Metro and catch one of the busses back to the Reston area. I get about 35 mi/day.

It's a transportation alternative to consider, especially if your facility has a shower and a place to stash your bike.
