I'm hoping someone can help me figure out the Gum Spring Road area.

This has puzzled me for some time now. What city or town is it considered? South Riding??

The area is inside Route 15, Route 234, and Braddock Road.

Thank you.

This took me a while to get used to as well when we lived in Ashburn.

There are huge pockets of Loudoun county that aren't a city or town. They're just parts of the county. The area you described is one of them I believe.

Gum Spring is being rerouted around the new part of an about-to-be-dug quarry addition:

re-route of Gum Spring

BTW - there are quarries all over the place "around here" - they existed first, of course, but my wife and I have - for ages - wondered why dust gathers SO fast inside our house - we do not believe it's all coming from our carpet pads...

There are homes along Gum Spring. They have addresses, right? What city do they put?

Depends on what part of Gum Spring. Look at this zip code overlay map (put in Gum Spring Rd., Aldie VA as the address). The Arcola-Pleasant Valley VFD uses Sterling, VA 20166 in their address. Slightly further south, but just north of Route 50, Gum Spring Rd. becomes the dividing line between 20152 (USPS primary city: Chantilly; acceptable alternates: Fairfax or South Riding) and 20105 (USPS primary city: Aldie; acceptable alternate: Stone Ridge) until Braddock Rd., at which point both sides of it are 20152.

I was always curious as to why there's a Gum Spring Rd. in Loudoun. Gum Spring, VA is in Goochland County.

There was a spring next to a gum tree. See Wikipedia: Arcola, Virginia; The History of Arcola United Methodist Church; and History of Arcola for details.

(There is also Gum Springs in Alexandria.)

Thank you for saving my sanity! I'm still unclear of the boundaries but at least I know it's normal when it comes to this area.

Thanks to all who replied.

Default Gum Spring Road in Loudoun

We moved into a home on Gum Spring Road 24 years ago (in 1988) and I'm still confused about why our address is considered Chantilly after all these years, so don't feel bad.

Here's the scoop:
- South of Braddock on both sides of Gum Spring Road it's Chantilly. (at least for right now because developers are trying to get some of the areas west of Gum Spring into the Aldie hood.
- North of Braddock and east of Gum Spring Road is considered South Riding, which used to all be part of Chantilly before Toll Brother's began developing the community.
- North of Braddock and west of Gum Spring Road is considered Stone Ridge, which is in Aldie.

Hope this helps. Check out my Website for more information for residents in the communities around Gum Spring Road at gumspringroad.com
