Empty-nesters have a job transfer to Sterling. Can you help?

I believe she said she wanted to lease, her budget is $1800 per month, and would have only 1 car, which is why I suggested the area near the library and Cascades Marketplace. Countryside near the shopping center would also be liveable without a car but at this time the only rentals in her price range are in the Riverbend condos, a little too far to walk to shopping.

Kincora looks great, but that's not the location. My DH's office will be a few miles south and on the other side of 28; not a sexy location at all, I'm afraid.

Margery: Yes, you read right that we aren't interested in buying, and although our housing will be paid up to around $1800/mo, we're willing and able to cover more than that if we feel it's worth it. We hope my husband can walk to work, if not, then I'll probably drop him off and pick him up so I have the car during the day.

ETA: My first post mentioned RTC as a possible home-base because of the reverse commute from RTC to the west side of Sterling Park. Can anyone tell me how long that RTC to west Sterling Park might take during morning peak hours (arrival time between 7:30 and 9AM)? TIA!

Still trying to figure out where the job is. Is it near Severn Road? Or the astronaut roads (all the roads have astronaut names or space themes)? Or is it down near where Ruritan crosses 28?

In general, the route from Sterling Park to RTC is difficult. The distance isn't that much but the trickiness of the twists and turns in this particular route would probably add a lot of driving time. Lots of stops signs and lights to wait for, too, as well as left hand turn against rush hour traffic and school buses in the morning.

The exception would be if the job's down in the southernmost part of Sterling Park (near 606), in which case the drive to RTC becomes quite a bit more direct.
