I believe from Dulles to DC will be the max fare whatever WMATA makes it moving forward. I believe right now it is 6.50. Once you hit that number it doesnt matter where else you go, for instance if you go from Vienna to Navy yard I believe you hit this number, if you continue after the transfer further out of the city into MD on the greenline it doesnt matter, you have hit the maximum.

From Dulles to Tysons will likely be on the order of 3.50 to 4 bucks based on current fairs of similar distance.

I seem to recall someone posting the rules for using the road, and it specifically mentioned that you can't do this anymore.

Your comments can be submitted online. What are your thoughts on the proposed toll increases?
It's too late to complain, Fairfax and Loudoun county have already committed us to the toll road. We're all going to pay and pay and pay. MWAA has ZERO reason to listen to anyone now that they have commitments for all the money they want from taxpayers and commuters.

That's right, we can just build more roads. The road fairy will let us have them for free!

as a general rule WMATA is not in the business of "pushing for metro extensions" The only case I am aware of where WMATA is sort of hinting a new line would be a great idea is the seperated blue line (Rosslyn-Georgetown-Union Station-Benning Road) and that is more on WMATA's radar since it addresses operating issues on the rails, which IS WMATA's concern.

The Silver Line was pushed by Fairfax County, to enable denser development (esp at Tysons) while limiting the increases in highway congestion that would otherwise accompany such development. There were certainly debates about the proper mix of $$ for the local share (the feds are pitching in as they do for most transit new starts, and the Commonwealth agreed to pitch in once they got their way on labor issues) between developer contribs, DTR tolls, and general revenues. I think the silver line will certainly increase property values along the toll road corridor (and thats may already factored into prices). That does leave an equity question between residents of the corridor who use the toll road and those who do not. I think it was simply much easier, both politically and administratively, to finance with DTR tolls than with some kind of surcharge on property owners in the corridor. Plus the toll increase incents usage of the Silver Line (and also carpooling)

I accidentally got onto the toll road when lost and only went 100 ft to the nearest exit and still had to pay $0.75...since then I've always avoided the toll road. There are other ways to get there.

That's not too bad. Years ago when I was more unfamiliar with 267, I accidentally got onto the Greenway, turned around at the first exit, and went back to 28 - it was about a $10 mistake.
