Can anyone recommend a hair salon for highlights and a cut that's under $150 in Northern Virginia?

I don't need all of the spa-like features; I just want a great highlight and cut that won't break my wallet.

Does anyone have any recommendations?? Anyone have personal experience with a particular salon/stylist?

Let me know...thanks.

I go to Statements in Woodbridge. My stylist is considered at Tier 5 and so she charges the highest. It costs me $154 and she does not accept tips. They have several Tier 4 stylists that might get you in the $135 range. You can check their website for prices.

Additionally, Bubbles Salon (a chain) does okay. They are right about $135 depending on hair length. A stylist once told me that if you were ever in a bind I could go to Bubbles because, of all the chains, they do try to hire Graham Webb graduates rather than some that come from the usual lower level beauty schools. Many Graham Webb graduates get their first job their to get their speed up. They might not give you the best cut but they are very good with color.

I saw this thread when I happened to be talking to a friend of mine who gets highlights. She goes to PR Partners in Oakton (Hunter Mill Plaza). Highlights are $100-135, depending upon stylist, without cut, to the best of her recollection, but she usually gets cut and highlights, so it's a tad more.

I moved here this summer and have been going to PR Partners in Oakton and am quite happy with my highlights and cut (shorter hair, not a full foil) ~ $120 for mine. I see Courtney.

I go to Studio 54 in Chantilly. Corry is great. I've been seeing him for awhile. I believe Highlights are around $110, not including cut. He does a great job and I've always been happy.

I have been going to Dynasty for several years. The salon has been around for ages and is located in the big shopping center on Little River Turnpike near Medford Drive. (Just inside the beltway in Annandale.)

I pay $75 for cut and color. Sofia does my hair. She is the best hairperson I have ever had (and I've been around a long time).

Ernst & Company in Springfield, ask for Linda. She's fantastic, been there for about 15 years and always booked. Call about a week out (at least).

Thank you all for your responses. I've been to PR @ Partners and used to walk out of there with a $200 bill for just full foil highlights and a cut... my hair us just below my shoulders by about an inch... too outrageous. I will try one of the others on the list here.

Much thanks again.

Besides the cost, PR Partners didn't do a good job for my hair. I read the great reviews about a stylist at PR Partners and set up an appointment with her. Although she was nice and had good attitude, her coloring skills were not top-notch! The haircut was sub-par. Don't know why people gave her 5-star ratings.

I had to go to another stylist at Donna's Hair Salon in Alexandria to re-do the entire highlights plus cut.

I go to the Ulta in Fair Lakes and for cut and color it is $110. I have been pleased so far especially since I have super curly hair and finding someone that can cut curly hair well can be challenging.
