I wasn't expecting the snow and sleet this morning. So far, I haven't ventured out in it. Just wondering how the roads are around the area.

It was snowing and sleeting this morning when I left (7am). There were about 4 spun out vehicles on the PW Parkway. police/ambulance were already on scene. It didn't appear the roads had been salt/sand treated then. At this point it has changed to rain in Manassas.

If they aren't salted and not heavily traveled, they can be slick, or at least they were at 9am. Just to see if they slick I slammed on the brakes at about 10mph in my building's parking lot and slid.

They were so-so in Fairfax at 9am. Dh takes pretty much all side streets up to gallows and 50. His antilock brakes engaged twice, so there are slick spots. He was driving our old ford explorer, so maybe that's why.

I left at work at 5AM. Nothing had happened yet. I did noticed that the roads had been treated (Woodbridge area). Going home may be a different story.

I was on 66 this morning around 8, not much traffic then at around Arlington about a gazillion fire trucks and ambos zoomed past me and exited towards crystal city and I was like, glad I ain't goin down that way, looks like some heavy sh*t going on there

Very, very WET drive home. Oh and I95 Southbound, regular lanes? Full of travelers. Absolute gridlock. I wonder why they are afraid of HOV lanes? I know they can be confusing.

Maybe all the beltway express signs and tolls they saw on the beltway had em spooked. There's a lot of info to absorb for a driver in unfamiliar territory especially during heavy rains.

My GPS said it would take 78 min. to get from the PTO in Alexandria to my house in Woodbridge. Luckily, I was HOV and made it home in about 45 min. Traffic on 95 South was gridlocked from the Franconia-Springfield HOV entrance all the way to my exit at the PW Pkwy. The traffic sign over by Rte 1 said it would take 71 min. to travel 20 miles. Rain and near freezing cold create poor/paranoid driving conditions.
