Someone was telling me that fcps sent an email out on dec 21 about redistricting some of the high schools in western fairfax. I never received any such email and was wondering if anyone had any info. We live in Oakton and will most likely stay at OAkton but it seems odd since they just did a redistrict in 2008. TIA!

Only a guess - might it be related to the Fairfax High School boundary study? If so, there is information on the FCPS web site:

FCPS - Department of Facilities & Transportation Services - Facilities Planning Services - Fairfax-Lanier Boundary Study

The parent that told me said it had to do with them opening the new high school ( west centerville, i think?) The thing that is odd is that they just redistricted the Fox Mill Estates area 4 years ago so to do it again seems stupid. To be honest, Chantilly and Madison HS are actually closer to our house than OHS but I know the Oakton parents would go nuts if we got redistricted. I guess we just wait and see..

Sounds like the new Capital Improvement Program. Maybe it's this news release?

FCPS - News Releases
The CIP includes funding for three new elementary schools—in eastern Fairfax County, the Richmond Highway corridor, and western Fairfax County—and a new high school in the southwest County area to provide relief to overcrowding at existing high schools such as Centreville, Chantilly, and South Lakes. It is anticipated that two other additional elementary schools will be needed to address future growth in the Fairfax-Oakton area beyond 2018 and in the vicinity of Route 28 and the Dulles Airport Access Road.
