There was a Giant at the Tall Oaks center in Reston that closed a few years ago. Too much competition from another Giant down the road, and Harris Teeter. And Trader Joe's. And Whole Foods. And Safeway. And Target.

Definitely not suprised with Bradlee's closing. That store was nasty. A little suprised with Beauregard, didn't seem to have much closeby competition except for Shoppers.

All Giants should close. Their time is past.

The Beauregard one seemed really outdated that last time I was there (admittedly a few years ago) so that one isn't too surprising to me. On the other hand, there isn't a ton of competition right there, and there are a lot of people who no longer have a grocery store within walking distance.

I've never been inside the Bradlee one, but the parking lot always seemed crowded. I have been inside the nearby Safeway and that seemed like a typical old Safeway, so I can't imagine the Safeway was doing much better than the Giant.

Eh, they're still the #1 grocery store in the market as far as sales.

Huh? What is this based on? My giants are always busy.

Absolutely not. The Penrose Giant is within walking distance of my place and I also have one within walking distance of my job. Both are very busy when I go in.
