I've been having so much fun swimming laps in my community pool this summer that it makes me a little sad to think it's all going to end in about a 7 weeks. It's my favorite exercise and I really enjoy it. I thought maybe I should find an indoor pool or join a gym with a pool.

I know about South Run Rec Center. But I was hoping to have a few other options to compare to see what might work best with my schedule, budget and possibly child care needs. Does anyone know of or can recommend any indoor pools in the Springfield area (or maybe even Alexandria area since that's near where I work).

Thanks!

I also recommend you check out the Lee District Rec Center. It is run by the county of Fairfax. It has a large 50 meter indoor pool with three diving boards, a gym, spa, basketball court etc. and is open from 5 am to 930 pm M-Thu with reduced hours Fri - Sun. It has a playground and (in the summer) a water sprinkle park for the children.

Lee District RECenter, Fairfax County Park Authority

It is located at the intersection of Rose Hill Drive and Telegraph Road, has ample parking, and is served by at least one Fairfax Connector bus (Rt. 109).

Regarding the rec centers, I'm pretty sure they don't.

Thanks for the answers! I will check out Lee District rec center too. I think South Run is closer to me, but LEe might end up having better hours and such. Thanks again!

Here's a link for Lee District. Lee District RECenter, Fairfax County Park Authority. Looks like the facility opens at 5:00 but the pool at 6:00 a.m. That doesn't surprise me as the swim clubs use the pools in the morning before that time most places. I remember many mornings at South Run at 4:50 a.m. in my "previous life" as a swim mom taxi.

All nine rec centers in the county have pretty much the same hours, so South Run may be better. However, Lee has more amenities than SR.
