Does anyone know of a full service gas station, where they pump the gas for you, in or near the city of Fairfax? My mom is getting older and it is getting harder for her, and while I try to do it for her it would be helpful to have a backup station for her to use. I know it costs more, but it is worth it for her. Thanks!

Isn't there usually a handicapped button on the pump, so someone will come out and help you? I remember a sign saying "if you need assistance, push the button and someone will help you". I assumed that meant a person came out.

No offense meant, but if it's too difficult to pump gas, maybe it's time to hang up the keys...

Most stations I see that do this will only do it if there's more than one attendant on duty.

That said, I know of exactly zero full service stations anywhere in this area. I've never even seen one in Va, for that matter.

I have to agree with another poster though. If you have problems handling the pump, I feel as if you shouldn't be operating a multi-ton hunk of steel. I know there are handicapped people that work around it without a doubt, but if it's a strength or versatility thing...I wonder how well you can steer/operate pedals, etc.

The only full service station I know of is in McLean on 123 just before the entrance to the GW parkway.
Going into strange territory is unsettling for your Mom. Pick a local station without a convieniance store but with service bays.
Use the handicap button and tip the person who helps you. They will catch on.

I know the station by Hollin Hall in Alexandria also has full service, like the station in McLean, but I cannot think of one in Fairfax that has a full service lane. That said, the guys at the Liberty station near Fairfax Circle are friendly, so I do think they would assist her, especially since they have a service business so a good number of attendants. The Shell on Main Street, near Fairfax Square is another station that comes to mind with a good number of attendants, and the Exxon near the Country Club of Fairfax might be another place where you could find someone to pump for you, though I am not certain that the service business is connected to the station, so they may just have the one attendant in the shop.
