Does anybody know if 395 South is still being reduced to one or two lanes overnight? I have to drive home from DC at around 11 at night once a week, and last week it was horrendous. I think they were just resurfacing, so I don't think it's a long term thing, but I can't find a schedule or anything online.

Oooh, good question. Last Wednesday it was awful--my normally 25 minute drive from Shirlington to Burke took over an hour at 11 pm.

I make it Tuesday nights, and it took an hour and a half from upper NW to Woodbridge. I've been looking for alternate routes but am unfamiliar with the upper Fairfax area around Langley that could get me to the Beltway. Maybe Chain Bridge to 123 or GW Parkway to connect to the Beltway.

I found this link to lane closures on the VA Megaprojects web site: Virginia Megaprojects - Closure Maps

It doesn't look like it's been updated in a month so I'm not sure how current the information is.

actually found another link (lane closure bulletins) that has current information.

Good link. Looks like we're still S-O-L this week.

Quote:
I-395 South from Seminary Road (Route 420) to I-495 - Two lanes closed Tuesday through Thursday from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday through Saturday from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. for sign structures, barrier, and maintenance of traffic work.

I-395 North and South from Seminary Road (Route 420) to I-495 - Single lane closed Tuesday through Thursday from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday through Saturday from 10:30 p.m. to 9 .am. for barrier and drainage work.
I will be taking Columbia Pike instead of 395 this week.

FYI I took Dolley Madison to the Beltway only to run into a work zone on 95 I hadn't seen before. Do these things ever end or do they work year round? In Pennsylvania we had a saying that the four seasons are almost winter, winter, still winter, and road construction.
