My husband and I are new to Virginia and need to figure out the best area to live for his commute. He is working in Ashburn and we are undecided where to move to. We are considering the Gainesville/Bristow area, Aldie, or Leesburg. Does anyone have any insight as to what is the best commute? Obviously Aldie would be easier, but we are liking the housing options more in the Gainesville area. His morning commute wouldn't be a problem as he would be on the road at about 5:30, but the evening commute is a concern. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

I live in Bristow and my husband worked off 28 for years. Trust me, don't do it. Route 28 in the am isn't that bad, but PM is horrendous. It's especially bad now as they are doing contruction to fix the lanes to get to 66.

Ashburn, Sterling or Leesburg ..... go for the shortest commute you can find. And although 5:30 in the morning seems early, it's really not. Alot of commuters are on the road by then.

Agree with the others - avoid Hwy 28 and focus your search on Ashburn, especially if your husband's job is permanent (or as perm as a job can be in this day and age). Good luck!

I live in Haymarket, which is right next to Gainesville, and like it, but if I had a job in Ashburn, I'd live in Ashburn.

What is your budget? I'd recommend Ashburn if it's in your price range.
