Foxfield Neighborhood / Lee Jackson Memorial / Fairfax, VA (Chantilly: home, neighborhoods)

I am considering a home in the Foxfield neighborhood (near the corner of Lee Jackson and Stringfellow). There are some old posts about this neighborhood, but I'd love to get some updated reactions. Any guesses on whether or not the development will hold its value? I've heard that Brookfield (across Lee Jackson) declined in value - particularly in the early 2000's. Obviously, Greenbriar and other surrounding neighborhoods seem pretty good. Any sense of whether or not Foxfield is holding ground? Schools? Future values? Would you buy there? What do you think?

I think Foxfield is doing fine. That neighborhood is generally slightly more expensive than Greenbriar.

I don't know if Brookfield declined or was always a bit lower-priced. The school in the neighborhood is Title I, as the population is higher poverty than the surrounding schools.

This area is pretty good - I wouldn't worry too much.

I definitely invite additional responses to the original question without turning the thread into a conversation about schools, but one question to clarify: The school in Brookfield is Title I or in Foxfield? Are the district boundaries fairly firm since it's a change of zip code (isn't it?). Thanks again.

No, Brookfield ES does not serve Foxfield. Lees Corner ES is where Foxfield attends. It is not a Title I school. Look at their website, Lees Corner Elementary School and go through the link "about our school" and you can look at their profile, etc. and get a feel for it. From what I hear and have seen, it's a very good school. I know all the elementary schools in the Chantilly HSpyramid work together on various projects, such as bullying prevention, so there is one message going out to all students. As for boundaries, they are set unless there is a need for pupil placement at another school, but out in this area, many schools are "closed" meaning they don't accept students because of enrollment. If you want to make sure of the schools for a certain address, use the boundary locator at FCPS Boundary Locator

Oops, as you said, didn't mean to turn this into schools. I agree with Hilsmom on the neighborhood. It is newer than Greenbriar and appears to be doing well. I know there is a pool as part of it and there is a swim team with it so there will be activities in the summer.
