My how things have changed. Snowing with temps in the single digits and no delays or cancellations.

Pretty noticeable accumulation here in South Arlington. Arlington and Alexandria public schools are delayed for two hours.

Announcements get made around 5-5:30 - Fairfax delayed two hours.

More likely mind numbing meetings. But before that there will be meetings to plan for the later meetings. Then post meeting meetings to discuss what was covered in the earlier meetings. They might get an hour for real teaching stuff. In MD even the monthly staff meeting to go over school issues is an in-service with 5 minutes on school issues and an hour or more in-service.

Really mad that work isn't delayed at least 2 hours. I didn't get back home until 11:30pm last night and it was already snowing then. I look outside and there is snow everywhere. I'm going to be late for work on purpose to make a statement.

I drove from Lake Ridge (Woodbridge) to Alexandria this morning, and I had no problem. It's only about an inch of snow. Some of the side roads are covered but if you take it slowly, you'll be fine.

Of course, if you are from a warmer climate and are unused to driving in the snow, I can see your point. Everyone has a different comfort level.

Thursday is a designated teacher work day--we are not to have meetings that day. Friday has always been scheduled as an inservice--that will be a half day of (for me) secondary math presentations (I'm giving one this year, so I don't get to attend any), and then the afternoon to finish up anything I need to do.

I bet FFX County would've closed if they weren't out of snow days. It didn't seem bad to me. Just required a little bit of extra caution, same as when it's raining. The snow was so powdery, there was literally no ice whatsoever on my sidewalk or car.

I thought today the roads in my neighborhood was much more slippery than when the federal government closed the past snowstorm, mostly because of no treatment on the roads at all. It was fine though, just need to drive a little more slowly.

Outside the neighborhood there's no trace of snow or ice at all.
