I think Round 2 is starting. I've got sleet coming down diagonally right now in Woodbridge.

I bet they call me like they did after Snowmageddon. The weekend before they were going to try to re-open school, we met at the support place at Woodson and they divided us up into teams....3 or 4 bus drivers, a school board plow truck, another school board truck pulling a Bobcat, and a DVS road mechanic truck (because invariably, some buses won't start). We hit school after school, moving the buses so they could plow...moving them back. Then the Bobcat attacked the sidewalks, in some cases piling the snow up to the second story at some schools.

It was exhausting (for a geezer like me)....but I got 25 hours of overtime that Saturday and Sunday!

As an added bonus, the guy let me run the Bobcat a little bit....a treat because I LOVE machinery!
Yeah, I never figured schools would open Friday. It was a no brainer. They are just now plowing our streets and not doing a great job at that. We'll see what transpires over the weekend, but right now I'd say Monday is iffy.

Lightbulb accurately predicted Thursday/Friday off

For tonight, lows in single digits. This will scare the school closers but they will hold for an inch of snow Wednesday night and give the kids a five day vacation starting on Thursday.
The above post was on Monday. All correct except the amount of snow (1 foot vs. 1 inch). Cancellation predictions were correct.

Looks like Monday will still be a holiday. We had discussed taking Presidents day away but that isn't happening, its another day.off from school. School has to go into July 4th.

Default Makes Zero Sense

I just checked and we are scheduled for 2 hour delay with option to take unscheduled leave. This is after it is supposed to snow more tonight and after 99% of all schools are closed. This is a funny post from angry Facebook person:

This place is getting retarded. So.... Our kids stay home because it's not safe to ride on roads, but it's safe for the supervision of the home to goto work? FUBAR?? Haha
And no, I didn't post that haha.

At this point, I think it is 50-50 on whether the Feds open tomorrow. If the snow had stopped for good at that break at 3pm, I would have definitely said yes. The additional snow and the Metro/Metrobus service are the big wild cards here.

As of 7:10PM the www.opm.gov site is not reporting that. Where are you getting your information?

The Belvoir site shows the 2 hour delay for non-essential employees. Belvoir and OPM aren't always 100% in sync for closures/delays.
