In the past, the local news and NWS have overestimated the actual snow totals. However, with the previous storm they were right on target. Now they are saying 8 to 12 inches for Alexandria. I am prepared for the worst, but after that unexpected bubble we had a few years back where the whole Eastern seaboard except DC received snow I'm inclined to hold my bets and see what happens.

We managed to bail out of town three weeks ago before that big storm hit and it was all melted by the time we got back. Now DH is in the garage trying to get the snowblower to start. Thought it was old gas but I know he just siphoned it out and redid and from the sounds I'm hearing, or not hearing, we may be shoveling by hand.

I was hoping the snow in my yard and street from the last storm would melt before this one hit. It doesn't look like that's going to happen. We still have piles in the road and the yard is covered. No wonder I can't grow vegetables in the summer.

Snow on the yard is good, it will recharge your water table and make watering easier.

Yabbut you can't grow vegetables in the shade!

Heard on the news that the temp today before the rain came in was what should be near our average for this time of year. Wouldn't that be nice, to have that this year?

OPM has already announced closure for tomorrow (March 3). Of the earliest calls I've seen them make.

Yes, I'm glad they didn't wait until 4 AM. I still have to telework, unless my power goes out in which case I'm no longer "telework ready" (Administrative leave).

Does anyone else have a "situational" telework agreement with their supervisor/agency? I can only telework when the government is closed, OPM announces unscheduled telework or any other extenuating circumstance when the government is otherwise OPEN. I don't have scheduled telework. This the case for anyone else?

I have regular and episodic telework agreements; but am not required to telework when the government is closed unless it is my regular telework day.

Went to Harris Teeter a few hours ago. It was packed with people (and the pharmacist said it had been insane most of the day) and checkout lines were long, but the shelves were generally still well-stocked.
