This is a quote from Saturday.... No surprise that school has been canceledagain. But why not use tomorrow for teacher in service (green status - which is no students)?

We're being told there won't be any extended days into the summer. Really? How does the school system bleed off more than two weeks of school and not have an impact? Why not end on memorial day then vs. mid-June? Something doesn't add up....

FCPS is adding the 23rd and 24th. After that I think the elementary schools are still a bit short on hours, so my guess is they will look to add minutes to the end of the day after some point or just extend a certain number of Mondays for students.

And have teachers coming in on the same icy roads and parking in the same unplowed parking lots that were deemed unsafe for students? And if they did then do what? In-services are planned in advance.

I think I heard that they were going to knock 5 minutes off the 15 minute recess although teachers can have "stretch breaks" for the students.

On the topic of the federal government, no word yet on tomorrow. Either way I may have to telework again because my Metrobus route is still suspended and DASH isn't running on my street. My only other option is the FX Connector bus (322), and they haven't yet posted about tomorrow. Anyone happen to know?

Still no word. I think it's safe to assume that there will be unscheduled telework allowed for tomorrow just based on the fact that the public transporation systems will not be a full operational status.

ts.
Every school that i saw was fully plowed and looks great. I understand your comment but all workers will face this road hazard tomorrow. Every main family breadwinner will be fighting icy roads and hazards tomorrow. Why are teachers exempt from driving on ice?

They're not. What purpose is served by having them go in? Really. Just so you can complain if they don't? Again, you don't know what goes into an in-service, and most of them are worthless.

Teachers get paid for X days, all the in-services have been scheduled already. Go in tomorrow and that takes one away later that's already been planned.

And it doesn't sound like many breadwinners are going in tomorrow.

OPM is truly lame. They should be able to come to a decision by now and let people know one way or the other.

It is supposed to be -3F windchill (4F regular) tomorrow morning. Work better be delayed. That is way too cold to be driving outside if you ask me!
