i just heard this and was trying to find out more....
does it drop and if so by how much?
can someone give me a real life property tax example before and after you were 65?

There is tax relief for the disabled and over 65....but you have to be pretty poor to qualify.

I looked at this several years ago, and it seems you could get a break if you had less than 340K in assets, excluding the home. 100% relief for someone with income under 52K...If you have a paid for house and no kids, you would have more disposable income after housing expense, than a good portion of FFX County. I just purchased a condo, where there are no property taxes...so I'll let you all split the legal hairs on that one.

Arlington has tiers of RE tax discounting for those over 65 and/or are disabled:
