So I've lived in Falls Church townhouse for almost 10 years and thinking its time to move out (I'm in the "new neighborhood" of 'Merrifield'-*rolleyes*) I'm looking everywhere at this point
Currently I'm trying to get a handle on Alex (ffx county only) but its seems as big and varied as FC.
Can someone explain the neighborhoods within Alex?

Thanks!

Easy peasy. The info is right here on City-Data.

https://www.city-data.com/nbmaps/neig...-Virginia.html

shows a map. Neighborhoods outlined in red are Alexandria City, neighborhoods in blue are Alexandria Fairfax County. Click inside each outline to pull up more detailed information on each area.

Leighland, I'm curious: Did you find Merrifield, with its fancy new-ish Mosaic District, to be not all that it's cracked up to be?

Good question.

I'm curious as well. I've always felt, with the prices in Mosaic pretty much mirroring the rental prices in Tysons, one might as well go with Tysons which has more amenities and more access in general to everything.

the "New Merrifield" is designed for millennials.
I am a family and not interested in living near millennials.
Merrifield is lots of dogs and singles and lots of nite activity to latenite bars and restaurants. Its no longer quiet after rush hour.
Because of these new people and the amenities they demand, rents and housing is frighteningly expensive
I've lived everywhere and if I could I'd move back to Wichita, OKC or parts of SoCal if I could. Because thats my current station in life.
I am sure if I was a millennial I'd think this area is just the bomb. Or whatever they say.

Merrifield is the cheaper tysons. So if a millenial guy cant afford over 425k he will buy here then move in his girlfriend and her rescue pittie. Also marginally closer to 66/rt 50.

Wilton Woods
Bushill Woods
Hayfield
Edsall Park

I'm looking for family oriented, quiet neighborhood , one bus ride to metro stop and schools are not horrible. I am in a Title I now and I love it so I am not looking for AP oriented school program

Don't really know why I'm mentioned in the title, but back to the topic.

I personally think you'd like Hayfield. A lot of my friends have had positive experiences with Hayfield's public school district. It is a quiet place, can't speak for the busses though.

Thank you! I will look in Hayfield
I've read in other posts you renaming alex in ffx cty as "Faux Alexandria" which is brilliant
And I think you are just a sweetheart-- glad you moved back from louisville

Have they started work on Landmark mall? Any ideas when that is slated to reopen?

Never I hope. Tear it down and put in housing.
