No, not the edible kind you find in grocery stores. But in your yard. Is the NOVA area finding record number of mushrooms in your yard or is it just me. I'm in a large yard full of shade from Oak trees. I've been in this house since 86 and have never seen it like this before. Some pretty good size ones as well. Just curious if others are seeing the same thing.

Our back yard is quite shady, but I haven't noticed any mushrooms.

Our yard is also shady--and, like yours, has lots of oak trees--and we have lots of shrooms last week before I mowed.

I've mowed and they seem to have multiplied like rabbits.

When you mow over rabbits, only the parts multiply.

OK, but seriously--are you mulching your grass? If so, try bagging. Could be that spores are spreading around if the mower is redepositing shroomage everywhere.

Good gawd man. I have enough yard work already. Bagging grass is NOT going to happen.

And besides, they don't bother me and I know they'll eventually disappear. I went out yesterday afternoon to clean up from the previous nights storm. I saw a squirrel carrying something just a few feet from me and it was as big as him. He dropped it to run from me and it broke into pieces. It was a mushroom and he was doing his best to take it somewhere.

We have had in the past couple of weeks more mushrooms in our flower beds sitting on top of mulch than I have ever seen. We use leaf mulch every year and the yellow dog puke fungus and mushrooms keep propping up post our removal via shovel. I would believe it has to do with the weather and tempture changes that have been drastic the past few weeks.

I too have seen way more mushrooms this year in my mulch beds than I recall from previous years. And its not just one type - I see 3 or 4 different varieties springing up.

When I say "bag," I don't mean into trash bags, just the one attached to the mower; just dump it from the mower bag into the garbage can. Not much more effort.
