Just curious if anyone's commute takes them past Purcellville and Herndon. I know 7 to the toll road is the shortest route, but if I'm too cheap to pay $6 a day, is there an alternate route?

Option 1: Route 7 to 28. How bad does Rt. 7 get in the mornings?

Feel free to pitch in any suggestions on this route. I'd really like to know how long it takes and more importantly how frustrating the drive is.

I'd take St Louis Rd (rt. 611, I think) south to Rt. 50, then either take 28 up, or take 606 around the backside of Dulles Airport. Maybe it's Snickersville Turnpike. I think that's Rt. 734. Been a few years since I went that way.
Get over to 50. Much less headache than Rt. 7.

Default Purcellville to Herndon

Bite the bullet and pay the tolls. Your time and gas (at 2.30/gal.) is more valuable. If you insist on alternatives, use RT. 7. Depending on the time you drive and time of year, 30 min. to one hour.

Good Luck
