Are you suggesting his fiance (not wife) should quit her job just to move to Loudoun?

The airport question is a big one. BWI is just such a hassle from northern VA.

where did the OP say they needed to go to BWI? National and IAD would meet the airport requirements.

Young is not the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Loudoun County. Definitely older than Fairfax/Arlington/Alexandria.

Throw my vote in for Kingstowne as well if you desire to hang in DC on the weekends.

Rent a condo in Crystal city. You can WALK to the airport and the Mrs will be able to take the VRE or metro to quickly get to work. Nightlife is light but easy access to get to other places. You'll be able to get by with only one car. Nice daycare within walking distance. Second would be Ballston.

I agree with the previous poster about checking out a few open houses. As you budget is $450K and you don't plan to buy for a year or so, I would look at properties in the 400-425K range.

There are several nice ones open in Reston this weekend to check out.
11964 SENTINEL POINT CT, RESTON, VA 20191 | MLS FX8486380 | Listing Information | MRIShomes.com
12019 INSHA CT, RESTON, VA 20191 | MLS FX8506888 | Listing Information | MRIShomes.com
2315 MIDDLE CREEK LN, RESTON, VA 20191 | MLS FX8506188 | Listing Information | MRIShomes.com

Hey everyone, OP here. Tons of great advice given. As for the Reston thing, it's really nice and what I know most of the three. I think the suggestion to take a drive neighborhood sightseeing and visiting open houses is in order. As for the Airport, any airport will do as my destinations vary and are typically to other major cities.

And FYI, the fiancee is not quitting her job anytime soon.

Thanks a lot, keep them coming if you have any other suggestions.

Interesting suggestion. I actually live in Crystal City right now. I didn't consider it because of the condo fees. I will take a quick look to see if any are in our range (adjusted for condo fees of course)

Loudoun has a higher percentage of residents under 18 than Fairfax, Arlington and Alexandria, and a lower percentage of residents over 65, so it definitely is younger. Maybe you meant fewer people in their 20s or early 30s like the OP.
