If OP's job uses Southwest Airlines a lot for travel, it's a valid question. When I lived in Fairfax and worked from DC, my job was sending me through BWI/Southwest all the time and it was such a hassle. I moved to Alexandria later on and had no issues then.

Interesting. I've never had a job dictate the airport I had to use for business travel. While I normally need to choose the least expensive flight, I'm choosing from the least expensive flights out of Dulles, not Reagan or BWI....or Philly or NYC, for that matter.

Merrifield/Vienna (22180) is another option. There are several older townhouse communities that should fit the budget. Mid-point between DCA and IAD. Close to Metro for the wife who works in DC. Close to the Mosaic District for young(er) crowd hangout spot.

Are you definitely set on NOVA? Looks like Maryland might be a good fit. Somewhere near the MARC train or red line metro so your future wife can get to Union Station easily and wouldn't be a far drive (or train ride, depending on what line you're by) to get to BWI.
