You should pretty much just go up and down Columbia Pike to find an apartment. That's where the cheapest apartments are that are close to DC. Some are roach/mice infested though so be careful and check reviews online.

Welcome to the club, I've been searching for a decent place for 2 months. It really depends on what type of person you are, if you appreciate a nice comfortable living space with decent appliances then you probably aren't going to fine anything in that price range. However, if you don't mind a cramped studio or living in a hole in the wall then you can find quite a few places around that price range, not including utilities. I would recommend looking for a roommate though, you can find a much better place that way!

Anything in that price point will be gross.
