Hi guys/gals,

I am looking for a part time position during the evening times in between (6p-1030p) Mon-Fri and every other weekend I can work whatever shift. I would like to stay busy and make money during my off time from my main job which is in IT field. If anyone knows of a part time position, outside of fast food, and preferably in IT, that would be awesome.

I live in the Annandale area and would like to keep it close to home :-)

Do you have the credentials to teach IT at the NoVa? Or thru a recreation department class?

unfortunately, I do not. :-(

That would be a nice part time. It would force me to stay up-to-date on technology.

Well, the most lucrative job (and one that works well with those hours) would be waiting tables. But it's hard work, and the pay can be inconsistent. Plus they usually have the waiters work till the places closes around 11:00 p.m.

You might inquire about assistant-manager positions at Home Depot. A friend of ours is one in another state, and he says they will accommodate just about any schedule.

Or you could try working at the Apple Store, if that would put your current expertise to use or at least be in the same general field.

Or maybe some type of helpdesk/IT handman gig at a hospital, since they have to be open 24/7.

Police dispatcher--probably pays reasonably well and they too are a nonstop operation, obviously.

Good luck on the 9th floor.

some of the big law firms will have slots for typists working after hours, either from dictation or logging in documents into databases. Those will likely be hired through clerical staffing agencies, but might be worth checking into.

Know you said no fast food, but would grocery be a problem? I'd look into working for a grocery store, preferably Whole Foods since the pay is great. Safeway I know when I worked there had a lot of people there as their second job.

I am not sure of you situation but a few years ago I had a friend who was always looking to meet women. He has a good job but his people skills were not the worst but he definitely could have used some self awareness at times.

I recommended he get a part job at Starbucks because that seemed like a good place to meet women if you do not go about and get all desperate every time you met one. It certainly would help him learn to speak with women, and all people, better. Plus he would have learned how to make good coffee.

He never did it and is still single. I often wonder if it would have ever worked for him.

Craigslist is your friend. I work in IT and used to have a second job tutoring kids. Heck, I even modeled at a photography school at one point in the past. My only advice is to do something that is different. The last thing that I wanted to do after 8 hours of work was the same thing for half of the pay.
