My friends just moved to Ashburn VA. We want to take the Metro Rail from their home to National Mall then back to Ashburn VA. Any suggestions? Thanks

Drive to the Reston metro stop.
Metro into DC.
Reverse.

Or, come back in 2020 when the metro has been extended into the Ashburn area.

To me, taking the metro from this area is a PITA. It can be expensive, time consuming, and overall a hassle.

The closest metro station is the Wiehle-Reston station. You'll have to get yourself there first and then metro from that point.

If it's during working hours, you can take the Loudoun Commuter Bus, direct.
