I suspect he was kept isolated from the general prison population for his own protection. The people who are given these weekend sentences for DUI are not like the regular prisoners. They would be preyed on by all the hardened inmates. Being isolated might just have saved him from a beating or being raped.

Much more likely to be an issue in actual jail, but this is county we're talking about here...people with sentences less than a year (or those not yet convicted) and most are there for minor stuff like drug offenses/theft/etc...non violent stuff. They want to do their time and get out.

The few baddies that haven't been sent off to prison yet will not be housed near the weekenders anyway. They prey upon sex offenders or newbies with lots of canteen items, not some random guy with a dui.

I have not but it's certainly possible. I believe most officers would arrest for drunk in public for this.
