The current boundary is a bit ridiculous.
First...it makes sense to have the crest of the long mountain chain (Allegheny) be the border, instead it meanders back and fourth illogically.
Second, including Jefferson/Berkely counties is odd, they are NOT WV at all and totally inconvenient.
What would have made sense, would have been to Hampshire County be the start of WV, then follow the red line on the map.

The current boundary is ridiculous because most of West Virginia was included in the new state against its will. The map shows what Wheeling could get away with, it was a war driven grab.
