I see pretty good propertis close to the I-66 Transfer Station ( recycling and disposal services ) which is in 4618 West Ox Rd. Fairfax, VA. How bad is this location? Is there any bad smell coming from it?
Thank you.

There is a Whole Foods literally on the other side of I-66 from this beast. I would not wish to live close to it because of sound (Trucks, compactors, bulldozers) but I think the area is not bad in any way.

I drop stuff off at least once a year and never notice any smells outside the complex.

How close are you thinking?

It is behind the church across the West Ox road from the disposal area.

I personally would not buy there...way too much of a NIMBY thing and I'm sure that's where the affordable part comes from. I wouldn't have any issues renting there. The area around the I-95 complex doesn't smell or anything so I don't think the I-66 one would either. The noise from I-66 might be the biggest issue.

This is a good post. I also believe the noise from 66 would be a bigger issue. If you could buy a little closer to the Fairfax County Government center that may be better as well. I have nothing for or against the area and have traveled through it a lot.
