Are there any outdoor events? I really don't want to be cramped inside of a bar full of people trying to get at least $100 worth of drinks. That just does not sound like a good time.

Not aware of any myself, but going to crammed public events around holidays is not my idea of fun. With that said, wherever you end up going, pre-flighting is a good idea. That way you just grab a few drinks once you are out and about and there is a chance it will cost you less than $100.

Just got an email on the Alexandria events so figured I'd share.

Of course now Uber is an option which I did not have back in the day but I am not sure how much better that will be.

Be safe and have a happy New Year.
If you go to a hotel, you won't have much trouble. We didn't have any wait when we left at 2ish from the Hilton DuPont Circle event a few years back.

Uber is going to be incredibly expensive.

Go to eventbrite and search for New Years events. I like Eventbrite because you can see different types of events throughout the metro area.

Old Town Alexandria has a big (dry) New Year's celebration every year along King Street. I think we did it about 12 years ago. Mostly gallery tours and snacks, followed by fireworks.

I am sure the bars are still open though and serving, correct? Also, there are portable/personal 'hydration' devices when on the go...
