Was initially looking into Leesburg, but also Looking for info about very desirable neighborhoods within 30 min commute of Reston, SFH, at least 4 bedrooms. NO RAMBLERS/RANCHERS!! Biggest bang for the buck & schools very important. Not concerned with commuting costs, but do need a little bit of a yard, .25+ acres. Would prefer park-like setting neighborhood rather than something barren. Any info much appreciated. Thx!!

Ok, even a commute less than 45-60 mins would be doable. Hours are 9-5.

Browse the Oak Hill area (zip 20171) School zones are split so look for the pyramids that are Chantilly HS.

Seems like everyone that wants new construction in the Dulles Corridor goes to Ashburn, so maybe look there?

Given what you would pay in tolls living in Leesburg you could easily up your budget 50k to live about 15 minutes from work.

Reston itself is nice and worth considering. But if you want the most bang for your buck, Ashburn is worth looking into. You can also get a great home in Leesburg as you mentioned but even that commute could be painful. Parts of Fairfax, Oakton and Annandale are affordable (with good schools) as well.

There isn't a ton on the market that fits your budget and zoned to Chantilly HS that's why I suggested just looking at that zip code and see what strikes your fancy and then go from there

I agree with Middlin and will add that most of the neighborhoods in those areas are pretty nice.
Here are the 4-bed properties currently available in the $500-800 price range sans Ramblers :-)

Oak Hill neighborhoods on the east side of Old Ox/Lawyers are in the Oakton Pyramid.

Several nice ones up in the Folkstone neighborhood.
