Awww, let's cut her some slack -- 6 kids under 8 -- probably doesn't get to go out often. She's posted before about restaurants/groceries so it's not an ad. I think she was just happy to get a treat.

Remember, not everyone can afford Rose's Luxury or the Inn at Little Washington.

ok, to each their own...but don't say "Hi, Fellow Foodies"

......she isn't a Foodie (which, for the record, is not someone who only eats at fancy places)..she's someone who relished free tacos at a chain Mexican place.

Whatever. Seems like all the foodies I know want the uber-expensive places. I didn't know it had an official definition.

And maybe to her, this is as "foodie" as it gets.

If one had to describe the obnoxious snobbery of "foodies" in one sentence, the above is a masterpiece.

Bravo.

ok, I agree, there is certainly some snobbery attached to the "foodie" label. I, while probably (ok, certainly) classify as a foodie, I amost always refuse to use the word, for that reason. Real foodies are people who seek great, interesting food and will be adventurous in looking for it. It's actually not about money, at all.

Foodies will look for great food in alleys, on the back of a truck, in strip malls, as well as established restaurants, including really expensive ones. This is not to say that Foodies will not eat at chains. Most certainly do. (I read an article where Anthony Bourdain said one of his guilty pleasures is a Filet-o-Fish.). It means that they don't classify the ho-hum of a chain as great food. (Not to say that a chain can't have great food; they just usually don't.)

Her "six kids under 8" have been around for a while. On another local board she posts on, the quads were six in 2006, and the twins were born that November. Which would make the quads 15 or 16 now, and twins would be 9. (I remember when the admins asked her to stop using it like a personal blog - it took me about thirty seconds to find those posts - the Internet never forgets.) So, you know, grain of salt and all that.

Lol. That's funny. Okay we'll all go back to being snooty foodies (expensive or not).

This. The best Mexican food in Arlington is literally a trailer: Vinnys & Pedros as well as a permanent food truck: El Chilango. Chuys deserves credit for being consistent but I just feel underwhelmed buying $12 tacos from white people. Im sorry. Their guacamole is underwhelming for me and that is an absolute dealbreaker for me. I have the cooking skills of a 5 yr old and I still can make guacamole.

And for the record, I feel the same about another Arlington institution -- District Taco. Bleh. I dont get the hype.

Since we are on the Mexican food topic... Went to Don Pablo's in Alexandria a while back and will definitely never return again; that food lacked taste, period. Uncle Julio's compared to that spot is a 5 star restaurant. Just saying.

Just be happy the restaurant doesn't smell like urine like the one in Manassas. I went there once in 12 years I've lived in NOVA and will never go again.
