Looking for any good daycare recommendations...I live near George Mason but my commute is to fort Belvoir down 286 each day. Anything between there would be great--- ideally open between 6-630am and 6pm.

If you use daycare closer to Belvoir, then you'll spend more time with your1yr old even though some of that time will be on the road. 12 hours a day is a lot. Unfortunately, didn't start daycare until moving out of Springfield.

I've tried it both ways, daycare right by house and right by work. Both have advantages. Big price difference was the primary reason we now chose closer to work.

I hear good things about the La Petite of the Fairfax County Parkway.

I often toyed with the idea of putting my kids at a center close to work but then overall, I realized, that I didn't want my kids with me on the commute. I know accidents can happen anywhere but they seem to be magnified during rush hour. I just wanted them to be where they needed to be quickly versus spend an hour in the car getting there. But if you have a rather short-ish commute, it really doesn't matter. It's also helpful if you have to work late and the daycare is close to work--no worries about trying to make it home before the daycare closes and they start charging you by the minute.
